About Claire

Claire Lunch is a physiological ecologist with research interests in the carbon cycle, biosphere-atmosphere feedbacks, and plant- and ecosystem-scale adaptation to novel environments. She holds a B.A. in Mathematics and Statistics from the University of Chicago (2002), and a Ph.D. in Biology from Stanford University (2009). Her doctoral research focused on productivity and carbon flux dynamics in response to simulated global environmental change, and natural environmental variability, in an annual grassland ecosystem. Prior to joining NEON, Claire was a postdoctoral scientist at the Woods Hole Marine Biological Laboratory, where she studied adaptations to photosynthesis associated with terrestriality in desert-dwelling green algae.
