Operated by Battelle, the Observatory relies on hundreds of scientists and engineers to collect, process, and provide over 180 data products from 81 field sites located in ecosystems from Alaska to Puerto Rico. Join our team of 500+ personnel and do inspiring work that solves some of the world's toughest challenges. We are an equal opportunity employer and strive for each staff member to have the opportunity to grow to the limits of their abilities.
Each year, NEON hires hundreds of temporary field technicians to assist our full-time field operations staff with observational sampling. NEON field sites are located in 24 states across the U.S. plus Puerto Rico; and the sites are located in some of the nation’s most pristine and wild areas. These opportunities are perfect for early career scientists who want valuable fieldwork experience collecting data for a continental-scale ecology program.
NEON Postdoctoral Fellows contribute to the NEON program’s scientific mission through the advancement of science and through engagement of the user community. Fellows receive funding for a period of two years, contingent on successful performance and available funding, and use NEON data in collaboration with NEON staff and community contributors.
Mentored internship opportunities are one way for individuals early in their careers to explore a particular field while developing skills and a professional network to succeed in a STEM career. NEON provides a variety of different internship opportunities and formats, including on-site partnered STEM Internships, remote research partnered STEM internships, and field internships.
NEON holds and participates in a variety of events, including workshops, international conferences, and regional and local meetings.
