About Stephanie

Stephanie Parker received her B.A. from Middlebury College (1999), M.S. from the University of Maine (2004), and Ph.D. from the University of Alabama (2008), where she examined the effects of natural disturbance on headwater stream communities on the North Slope of Alaska. This research focused on the effects of bed movement due to flooding and freezing on the structure and function of stream communities, using food web metrics and energy flow across a wide variety of Arctic stream types. Stephanie's post-doctoral research at the University of Alabama focused on the effects of seasonality on algal communities in a spring-fed Arctic stream. Her research focuses on the effects of the abiotic environment on stream community structure and function.
