Nick earned a B.A. in Cultural Anthropology from the University of Iowa and an M.S. in Forest Hydrology from Humboldt State University. His graduate research examined the balance of erosion control and forest fuel reduction within the Lake Tahoe Basin using snowmelt runoff simulation and hydrologic modeling techniques. Nick’s professional experience has focused on different ways land management affects hillslope and fluvial processes in forested watersheds on the North Coast of California. As the staff hydrologist at NEON Nick helps guide hydrology monitoring procedures and analytics that provide data to assess aquatic trends at the regional and continental scale.
