New Terrestrial Observation System (TOS) sampling boundary at the Domain 04 Lajas Experimental Station site

The sampling boundary for the NEON Terrestrial Observation System (TOS) – which supports observation and collection of terrestrial plants, insects, birds, and soil – has changed at the Domain 04 Lajas Experimental Station site (LAJA). The sampling boundary at LAJA comprises several land parcels with a diversity of provenance, and the permit associated with one privately-owned parcel expired without the possibility of extension. As of January 2024, the plots in this parcel were decommissioned and new plots have been added in an adjacent parcel of approximately the same size as the decommissioned sampling area (Table 1 and 2, Figure 1).
