Kate Murphy

Murph primarily works as a data processing specialist on the AOP team, but still assists the TOS spatial data team. She is happy to answer questions regarding AOP data availability and quality, TOS sampling design, GIS support, and machine learning.

Murph attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she double majored in Geography and Environmental Science with a Marine Science minor. Before joining NEON, she sharpened her field, mapping, and programming skills working with USGS and the EPA. She primarily focused on denitrification in seagrass beds. She used those rates in conjunction with others to develop an interactive tool to map how changes in land cover type affect ecosystem goods and services provided within watersheds.
