About Callie

Callie Puntenney is the NEON marketing & communications specialist. She provides communications support in aid of NEON’s mission to provide high-quality, long-term ecological data and infrastructure. Her work helps foster connection and communication between NEON and its partners, stakeholders, and communities.

Callie received a B.S. in Fish, Wildlife, and Conservation Biology from Colorado State University in 2014 where she researched the population status of a rare butterfly in Colorado. She worked as a wildlife technician and taught technical field skills in natural resources before obtaining a M.S. in Biology from Boise State University in 2022. In her graduate program, she was part of the Human-Environment research group at Boise State University where she researched local knowledge and collaborative management of rangelands. She has experience as an event planner and outreach specialist for a state fish & wildlife agency, an adjunct instructor of environmental science classes, and a field technician on rangeland, forestry, and hydrology projects. Since graduate school, her expertise has centered around public outreach, communication, education, and facilitation in ecological topic-areas.
