Acting Manager, D20: Pacific Tropical
Ty Lindberg is the Field Operations Manager for Domain 2, located in Front Royal, Va on the grounds of the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute. Ty is also the Interim Field Operations Manager for Domain 8, based out of the Ozark Support Facility in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He holds a BSc in Biology from UNC Chapel Hill and a Masters of Zoology from North Carolina State University. His graduate work focused on population genetics and quantitative fisheries management. Prior to joining NEON, Lindberg was a researcher and lab manager at Duke University in Durham, NC within the Nicholas School of the Environment. His research involved water quality issues related to surface coal mining and the fate and transport of selenium in aquatic ecosystems. He designed and led a multiyear field-based study to quantify the cumulative impacts of mountaintop removal coal mining on watersheds and associated biota in southern Appalachia. As an environmental specialist for a large energy producer based in North Carolina, he conducted field surveys measuring fish and benthic macroinvertebrate diversity along with water quality monitoring at sites associated with hydro, nuclear and coal-fired electricity production.
