Observatory Status
September 23, 2025
Week of 23 September 2025
Operations Status
Work at some field sites may be suspended due to major impacts including but not limited to natural disasters, severe weather, and extenuating circumstances.
Current restrictions to operations:
- The Garnet Fire is impacting D17 (CA). Field sites TEAK and TECR are inside the mandatory evacuation area and all field work is postponed until further notice. SOAP and BIGC are accessible with limited travel but remain air quality dependent.
Airborne Operations
The 2025 campaign season is scheduled as below. The season commenced in April with calibration flights and 2 aircraft payloads. For more information, you can find the daily flight reports here.

Data Products Status
Observation System (OS) Products
- The collection of OS data and samples are dependent on human operators being in the field. Thus, collections at sites where conditions result in restricted access will be impacted.
- Includes DP IDs: DP1.1XXXX, subset of DP1.2XXXX, DP4.00131, DP4.00132
Airborne Observation Products
- Airborne Observation data collection for 2025 season is commencing in April 2025 with calibration flights.
- Airborne products are collected according to the schedule above; these data are all dependent on human operators traveling extensively and being in the field.
- Includes DP IDs: DPX.3XXXX
Instrumented System Products (Updated Tuesdays)
- Most sensors continually collect and communicate data to the centralized NEON database. Regular on-site maintenance may be impacted at sites where conditions result in restricted access.
- Includes DP IDs: DPX.0XXXX (except for DP4.00131, DP4.00132), subset of DP1.2XXXX.
- Unplanned power and/or communications outages occur as a normal part of operations. Please note that communications outages typically result in delayed delivery of data rather than data loss.
- Sites currently experiencing power outages or site-wide data loss:
- D17 TEAK - Power down since 2025/09/02
- D17 TECR - Power down since 2025/08/30
- D18 OKSR - Power intermittent beginning 2025/08/07
- No sites are currently experiencing communications outages.
