The Site management and event reporting data product (DP1.10111.001) has been updated, and new code resources are available for working with the data.
The updated data product includes a new table, sim_locationVisitsAndAttributes, which contains information about factors that may influence the vulnerability of a location to disturbance, such as slope and soil type. The sim_locationVisitsAndAttributes table also records the number of sampling visits to each location per year and any mitigation strategies in place (boardwalks, geoblocks, etc).
A new R code package, neonSiteMgmtEventData, is now available to help users navigate and summarize site event data, and generate polygon estimates of the spatial extent of events.
A new function in the neonUtilities R package, byEventSIM(), is available to enable users to download management and event data by event type rather than by NEON’s standard download parameters of site and month.
The tutorial Working with NEON Site Management and Event Data provides an overview of the data product, instructions for using the new code package and new functions, and guidance in evaluating and working with the spatial data associated with site events.
