  1. Logistics for Using Networks Workshop Participants

Logistics for Using Networks Workshop Participants

Key Dates

  • January 8, 2018: Abstracts Deadline
  • January 13, 2018: Housing Deadline for Group Rate

Location

All aspects of the workshop will be held at the Battelle-NEON Headquarters: 1685 38th St., Suite 100, Boulder CO 80301.  The meeting room will be the 2nd floor NITA conference room.

Housing

Participants should book lodging at the Millennium Harvest House Boulder, located at 1345 28th Street, 0.9 miles from NEON Headquarters. The deadline for the group rate has now passed. If you have not yet made reservations, you should still plan on staying in this hotel.  You will need to reserve with them directly.

Lightning Talks and Agenda

The deadline for submitting abstracts is passed (January 8, 2018). Acceptance emails will be sent soon thereafter. A full workshop agenda will be circulated to participants shortly before the workshop.

Transportation

Participants who are flying should arrive and depart from the Denver International Airport (DIA).

Transportation to/from Denver International Airport

The RTD AB route runs directly between DIA and Boulder. Transit time is roughly 1 hr and the cost is $9. Please note that if you pay on the bus, you must pay cash and the drivers can’t make change.

If the bus schedule does not work with your arrival times, there are several shuttle services: Greenride Boulder, SuperShuttle, and other car services.

Transportation to/from NEON & around Boulder

If you are driving a vehicle, parking will be available at the Battelle Boulder Office/NEON HQ. If you do not have a vehicle, there are several transportation options to get you to/from NEON Headquarters and around town. If you are staying at the Millennium, your destination is the Downtown Boulder Station, from where you can walk, take a bus, or a short cab ride to the hotel.

Walking

The Millennium is 0.9 miles from NEON HQ along Arapahoe Ave or 1.3 miles along the scenic Boulder Creek path.

Public Transportation

Bus passes can be purchased for Boulder’s/Colorado’s Regional Transit District (RTD). Note that the JUMP line runs up Arapaho Ave and conveniently links the hotel to NEON HQ.

  • A 10-ride pass can be purchased for $23.50
  • A 5-day pass can be purchased for $26
  • Bus route maps and route planners can be found online on RTD’s website

Bike Rentals

Weather permitting, bike trails and routes connect many parts of Boulder.  The Boulder Creek path runs directly between the hotel and NEON HQ.

  • Boulder offers a self-serve bike-share system, Boulder B-Cycle.  The B-Cycle station at 38th & Arapahoe (13 parking docks) is within a block of NEON HQ. Helmets are not available with B-Cycle rentals.

Taxi/Uber/Lyft

If needed, numerous taxi companies, as well as Uber and Lyft, operate in Boulder.

Food

Light breakfast, lunch, and coffee/tea will be provided during the meeting, except for the last day when lunch is not included. Participants will be responsible for their own dinners. Boulder has many great restaurants and brewpubs to choose from.  Here is a list of restaurants in the downtown area and there are other options within walking distance of the Millennium as well. Walk, bus, bike, and taxi are all great options for getting around town.
