We identified an unusually high number of duplicate records in the fish bulk count data (fsh_bulkCount) published in the Fish electrofishing, gill netting, and fyke netting counts data product (DP1.20107.001). The affected data were prevalent across most aquatic sites that collect fish.
We investigated the issue and discovered that these records represented multiple fish captures entered separately, which should have been entered together. The data have been corrected, such that fsh_bulkCount now contains a single record for each combination of sampling bout, location, and taxon. The mobile data entry application has been updated to prevent multiple entries in the future.
Provisional data have been corrected, and the full corrected dataset will be available in RELEASE-2025, to be published in January 2025. Because Data Releases are static, multiple records per bout per taxon remain in past Releases.
