The grass-root network DSOS (Data Science and Open Science) and AEMON-J (Aquatic Ecosystem Modeling Network - Junior) are hosting a Hacking Limnology event. The event is a virtual, free event July 21-25.
The first part of the week is AEMON-J workshops that center on major themes (e.g., big data, remote sensing, machine learning, and numerical modeling) and keynote presentations with live hands-on coding exercises. The second part of the week is the DSOS virtual summit, 'Virtual Summit: Incorporating Data Science and Open Science in Aquatic Research' that includes 10 minute presentations by 20 presenters about aquatic research including open data and open science approaches and a 'Career in Data Science and Open Science" panel.
The majority of the program will be 14:00-18:00 UTC (10:00-14:00 EDT), but on July 23 it will be 18:00-22:00 UTC (14:00-18:00 EDT). Join July 24 from 15:45-15:55 UTC for Kelly Aho's talk "Creating and using NEON derived data products to gain new insights into greenhouse gas emissions from streams and rivers."
More information about the workshop and summit schedules are available on the Hacking Limnology event website https://aquaticdatasciopensci.github.io/. There is no cost for either event. Register and learn more at https://aquaticdatasciopensci.github.io/registration/
