Conference Details

We're excited to see you virtually at the 2020 Life Discovery Conference! The Life Discovery - Doing Science Education Conference is a collaboration among: the Ecological Society of America (ESA), the Botanical Society of America (BSA), and the Society for the Study of Evolution. This conference highlights the leading science, curriculum design and implementation, and data exploration in research-rich biology education for high school and undergraduate students. The theme of this year's conference is Pushing Past Barriers: Ecological Science for All. This theme focuses on ensuring that ecology is relevant to all students in the new decade. The deadline to submit proposals for workshops and presentations has now passed. Proposals for Education Share Fair Roundtables are first come first serve and are open until filled.

The main goals of this conference include:

  • Highlighting evidence-based research for biology education
  • Promoting the use of digital resources for scientific literacy
  • Informing educators about strategies for promoting careers in organismal and environmental biology
  • Fostering communities of practice and partnerships among scientists and educators, and promoting a culture of publishing in education through the sharing of classroom-friendly resources in the LifeDiscoveryEd Digital Library.

The Education Share Fair will be a central event for participants to contribute to a collection of lesson ideas as well as teacher-friendly scientific resources including photo collections, figures and charts and datasets, leading to publication in the LifeDiscoveryEd Digital Library.
