About Madie

Madie has a background in limnology and aquatic biogeochemistry, with experience studying carbon cycling and ecosystem metabolism across diverse lentic ecosystems. Her research has utilized high-frequency sensor data as well as field and lab experiments to investigate relationships between dissolved organic carbon, metabolic process, and greenhouse gas production in lakes and wetlands.

Madie first joined the NEON program as a field technician in the Northeast Domain. She later returned as an aquatic field ecologist, where she managed the Aquatic Observation System (AOS) in the Desert Southwest. In 2024, she transitioned to NEON’s Science team as a data scientist, where she supports data quality assurance and collection efforts across aquatic and terrestrial data products.

She holds an M.S. in Forestry and Natural Resources from Purdue University, and a B.S. in Environmental Science from Dickinson College
