DeLeaves Canopy Sampling at the Harvard Forest CLIFF Experiment for studying plant plasticity
This project studies how temperate forest trees adjust their leaf physiology and traits in response to the combined stresses of climate change and forest fragmentation, using drone-collected, sunlit top-of-canopy leaves from red oak and red maple at the Climate Interactions with Forest Fragmentation (CLIFF) Experiment at Harvard Forest. Battelle, through the NRSS, is providing subject-matter expertise in UAS operations and operating an Arcsky x55 drone and DeLeaves Canopy Sampler, including flight planning, coordination, and FAA-certified pilot support, to enable safe and compliant canopy foliage collection.
