NEON Research Support Services Project
AOP Survey at Retrogressive Thaw Slump South of Toolik Field Station
An active retrogressive thaw slump near Lake LTER 395/GTH89 (68.5259275°N, 149.5445882°W) is currently expanding at an estimated rate of approximately ten meters per year. This site is of considerable interest to the research community at Toolik Field Station. Including this location in the NEON Airborne Observation Platform (AOP) flight survey over D18 TOOK and TOOL would enable systematic data collection, supporting ongoing efforts to monitor the progression of the thaw slump and evaluate its effects on surrounding ecosystems.
