Assistant Manager, Field Operations, Domain 10/13
Chau Tran is originally from Long Beach, CA where she received a B.S. in Ecology, Behavior, and Evolution with a minor in Classical Civilization from UCLA. Before NEON, she enjoyed surveying subtidal algae around Catalina Island, studying the tropical forests of Costa Rica, counting gobies in the British Virgin Islands and Bahamas, counting black cod off of Dutch Harbor, snorkeling for juvenile salmonids in Idaho, and collecting macroinvertebrates at the Coweeta Hydrological Laboratory and Hengill Valley in Iceland. She earned her Master's of Science from the University of Idaho in Water Resources estimating juvenile rainbow trout consumption rates in the Cascade mountains. Chau started at NEON in 2014 as an Aquatic Field Technician at Domain 8 - Ozarks Complex based out of Tuscaloosa, AL where she helped establish their three aquatic sites. As of September 2016 she is the Assistant Domain Manager at Domain 10/13 - Central Plains and Southern Rockies/Colorado Plateau. She is excited to join her new team in Colorado and will be taking advantage of her new proximity to the mountains and snow with her grumpy dog in tow.
