About Kelly

Kelly Hondula is a postdoctoral fellow working on a project to combine NEON’s aquatic and airborne data to create detailed maps of aquatic ecosystems and water quality that will be used to test ecological theories about how carbon moves across landscapes. Kelly has a background in aquatic biogeochemistry, studying the links between hydrology and carbon cycling in forested wetlands. Prior to starting at NEON, Kelly developed expertise in environmental data science as part of the cyberinfrastructure team at the National Socio-Environmental Synthesis Center, where she also helped lead efforts to leverage NEON data for socio-environmental systems research.
