About Sarah

Sarah Elmendorf uses large-scale and long-term monitoring data and experiments to address the susceptibility of biological communities to environmental change, with a particular focus on invasive species and climate warming. She received her B.A. and M.A. in Biology from Wesleyan University and her Ph.D. in Ecology from U.C. Davis. Her dissertation work examined linkages between plant diversity and distribution patterns and spatial and temporal environmental heterogeneity in serpentine grasslands. As a postdoc with the International Tundra Experiment group based at the University of British Columbia, Sarah studied the response of tundra plant communities to ambient and experimental warming across a network of sites located throughout alpine, Subarctic and Arctic tundra sites worldwide.
