Terrestrial Plant Productivity and Biomass Technical Working Group
The Terrestrial Plant Productivity Technical Working Group provides input into how the NEON Terrestrial Observation System allocates sampling effort for plant biomass, productivity, and leaf area index measurements. Specifically, the group advises which methods, protocols, and equipment are employed to create robust ground-based estimates of these parameters across a suite of different vegetation types and their components (i.e. live biomass, coarse woody debris, litterfall, etc.), how ground-based measurements are located and carried out to validate remote sensing hyperspectral and LiDAR datasets, and how ground-collected data are integrated with data streams generated by the NEON Terrestrial Instrument System.
