Engagement Goals

Project BudBurst has a strong education focus, in addition to collecting scientifically useful data.  We seek to engage a broad audience in:

  • Understanding the impacts of changing climates on plants and their phenology
  • Engaging in and understanding the scientific process
  • Observing plants in the outside world
  • Contributing phenological data to educational and scientific communities for learning and research

Project BudBurst participants utilize data collection protocols similar to those used by NEON field scientists, making this educational project an opportunity to participate in authentic and ongoing research. There is no cost to participate – everything needed is freely accessible on the Project BudBurst web site.

Educators are a key part of the Project BudBurst community.  We offer materials and activities targeted to both formal and informal K-14 educators and their students.

Project BudBurst partners include national wildlife refuges, botanic gardens, nature centers, university researchers and more. New partners are always welcome.
