Data Workshops

NEON supports, develops materials for, pilots and organizes scientific data-intensive workshops that teach key data literacy, analysis, management and visualization skills. NEON workshop materials are available online at www.neondataskills.org.

NEON Collaborations

NEON collaborates with Data Carpentry, Software Carpentry, NSF bio centers including SESYNC & CyVerse and the science community to build spatio-temporal tutorials and workshop materials, as well as a host of other scientific and academic organizations to develop self-paced data tutorials, science videos & supporting graphics, workshop materials, data intensive teaching modules and teaching data subsets that can be used to teach big data analysis techniques and concepts.

All resources are freely available on the  www.neondataskills.org and use free & open source, analysis tools such as R, Python and QGIS and free online visualization tools such as plot.ly and plas.io.

The Annual Data Institute

NEON hosts an annual Data Institute which provides participants an in-person hands-on opportunity to work with NEON data while enhancing their data skills. Topics vary by year.
